Full-color LED displays are now widely used in advertising, stage, conference and other scenarios, but the quality of products on the market is uneven, so if you are not careful when purchasing, you may fall into a pitfall. As a consumer or buyer, how to quickly identify the quality level of full-color LED displays? Don’t worry, this article will start from several key points and teach you step by step how to choose high-quality display screens, making them both professional and popular!

  1. Look at the display effect: clarity and color are the key

The quality of a full-color LED display is first reflected in the visual effect. High-quality displays have clear pictures, bright colors and strong sense of layering, while low-end products are often blurred, color-cast or colored blocks.

Resolution and pixel density

Pixel dot spacing (referred to as P several, such as P2 and P3) is the core indicator that affects clarity. The smaller the spacing (such as P1.5 vs. P4), the higher the pixel density, the more delicate the picture. When purchasing, use the viewing distance to judge: choose a small spacing (P1.2-P2.5) for close-up indoors, and choose a large spacing (P4-P10) for long-distance outdoors. Provide you with a guide to selecting LED display spacing.

Tips: During on-site testing, play high-definition videos to observe whether the details are clear and whether there are jagged edges at the text.

Color Reduction

The high-quality display has a high color reproduction degree, and the three colors of red, green and blue are natural and have no color cast. During the test, you can play rainbow pictures or solid color pictures to check whether there are stains or dark blocks.

Note: Ask the supplier whether it uses high-quality lamp beads (such as Guoxing and Jingtai), the lamp beads directly affect the color performance. Here are 3 LED light bead specifications.

Refresh rate and grayscale

The refresh rate determines the smoothness of the picture. The refresh rate of the high-quality screen is ≥3840Hz, and there is no obvious flicker when shooting with a mobile phone. Grayscale affects the sense of layering of the picture. High grayscale (14-16bit) makes the dark details richer, while low-end screens (below 12bit) may have color level faults.

Test method: Play dynamic video to see if the moving picture is distorted; lower the brightness and observe the details of the dark part.

  1. Check the hardware configuration: Determine the quality of the core components

The hardware configuration of the display is like a car's engine, which directly determines performance and life. The following components should be focused on:

LED light beads

Light beads are the core of the display screen, which determines brightness, life and stability. The lamp beads of well-known brands such as Guoxing Optoelectronics, Jingtai and Nichia are more reliable in quality, slow in brightness, and have a lifespan of 50,000 to 100,000 hours. Low-end lamp beads are prone to dead lights and color distortion. Let me introduce you to the working principle of LED light beads.

Suggestion: Ask suppliers for proof of the brand and model of lamp beads, beware of inferior products as good ones.

Driver IC

The driver IC controls the current output, affecting the refresh rate and picture stability. High-quality ICs (such as accumulation and bright micro) can ensure uniform and flicker-free pictures, while inferior ICs may cause jitter or uneven brightness.

Control system

The control system is the brain of the display screen, responsible for signal processing and picture output. Well-known brands such as Novastar and Carlett have stable systems, strong compatibility, and more convenient debugging. Low-end systems may be stuck or crashed.

Tips: Switch signal sources on-site test to see the system response speed.

  1. Pay attention to process details: workmanship determines durability

A good display is not only "good-looking", but also "durable". Process details often expose quality.

Module flatness and splicing

The high-quality display module is flat, with no gaps in splicing, and there are no obvious splicing marks on the picture. The low-end screen may have module warping or obvious seams, which will affect the appearance.

Inspection method: Observe the splicing of the screen at close range and feel the flatness with your hands.

Protection performance

Outdoor display screens must have waterproof and dustproof capabilities, and IP65 or higher level is more reliable. Indoor screens focus on cooling design to avoid the aging of lamp beads due to high temperatures. What is the difference between an indoor LED display and an outdoor LED display?

Suggestions: Check the product protection level certificate and test the cooling fan or thermal conductivity materials on site.

Box material

The material of the box affects the convenience of installation and maintenance. High-quality screens mostly use die-cast aluminum boxes, which are light in weight and high in accuracy; low-end screens may use iron boxes, which are bulky and prone to rust.

On-site inspection: Knock on the box and listen to the sound, the aluminum alloy sounds crisp and the iron is stuffy.

  1. Understand the brand and after-sales service: Ensure worry-free use

When purchasing full-color LED displays, brand and after-sales service are the "invisible guarantee" of quality.

Brand reputation

Well-known brands usually have stricter quality control and more mature technology. How to choose: Top LED brands vs emerging brands.

After-sales service

The display has a long service life and after-sales service is crucial. High-quality suppliers provide at least 2-3 years of warranty to quickly respond to maintenance needs. Low-end manufacturers may "sell after they are sold out." Suggestion: When signing a contract, clarify the warranty period and maintenance response time.

  1. Personal test and comparison: Seeing is true

A real investigation is worse than a paper talk! When purchasing, try to go to the supplier's exhibition hall or project site to test the display effect yourself. Bring high-definition videos and test images to check clarity, color and stability item by item. If conditions permit, compare several products and the advantages and disadvantages will be realized immediately.

Summarize

To identify the quality level of full-color LED displays, the core is to look at the effect, check the configuration, review the process, and select the brand. Clarity, color restoration, and refresh rate determine the appearance, lamp beads, ICs, and control systems determine the performance, flatness, protection, and box material determine the durability, and brand and after-sales service are guarantees for long-term use. As long as you grasp these key points, you can easily choose a cost-effective screen whether it is the indoor small spacing or the outdoor large screen!
